Flowers in the Storm

My lens searches for contrasts.

In the wild, I’m fascinated by flowers standing against brutal mountain winds, storms and gales — yet remaining perfectly sharp, strong and seemingly unmoved in the final photograph.

To me, they are visual proof that strength is not created by comfort.

Strength is built through resilience under pressure.

An Atheist in the Temples of the World

As a convinced atheist, I have visited an extraordinary number of temples, cathedrals and sacred places around the world.

Do not mistake that for religious belief.

What I’m searching for is a deep admiration for human genius.

I admire the builders, architects and artists who managed to carve into stone works that survived centuries, wars, epidemics and the collapse of entire empires.

I photograph the extraordinary energy of these places — where ancient stone meets a fleeting beam of light.

And this is where you sometimes discover that impact has very little to do with size.

What really matters is what the place leaves behind inside you.
